Licences for our digital programs can include student access. Students access content within a secure environment and their access is set up by schools (or an individual teacher/tutor) that have consented to purchase or use a free trial of the product.
Student access is set up in one of two ways depending on the combination of programs that the school, or individual teacher, has access to:
Student access via a Class Code
A class has the option of using a Class Code if students are only using Sound Waves Literacy, Maths Trek or Writing Time. A Class Code is a shared code for all students within a class. Schools are only required to enter a class identifier. When using a Class Code no individual student information is required.
Student access via an individual Student Login
A class will be required to use individual Student Logins if they are using English Stars, Think Mentals Digital or BitMaths. A class may choose to use Individual Student Logins if students need direct access to the Printable Student Book Pages for Sound Waves Literacy or Maths Trek.
To set up individual Student Logins, schools are only required to enter a class identifier and student name to give a student access. We permit schools and parents to use pseudonyms to allow students to access and interact with our resources anonymously, and we do not require schools to disclose the identities of students.
English Stars, Think Mentals Digital and BitMaths have the capability to allow students to submit their own activities. Students’ answers and their teacher’s marking, are not publicly available. Their answers are only visible to the teachers and administrators linked to their class for tracking and reporting purposes, to the individual student themselves during the year of their subscription, and to Firefly Education. Firefly Education may use anonymous student answers to improve the content or functionality of the program or to analyse statistical trends. Data is held at a secure Australian data centre in Sydney.
Students are not able to communicate with each other within the program and Firefly Education cannot communicate directly to students.
