Licences to our digital programs can include student access. Student access to content is within a secure environment and is set up by schools (or an individual teacher/tutor) who have consented to purchase or use a free trial of the product.
Student access is set up in one of two ways dependant on the combination of programs that the school and/or individual teacher has access to:
Student access via a Class Code
A class has the option to use a Class Code if they are only using the student site for iMaths, Maths Trek, Sound Waves or Writing Time.
A Class Code is a shared code for all students within a class. Schools are only required to enter a class identifier. When using a Class Code no individual student information is required.
Student access via an individual Student Login
A class will be required to use individual Student Logins if they are using English Stars, Think Mentals Digital or BitMaths. A class may choose to use individual Student Logins if they are using Maths Trek Printable Student Book Pages or Sound Waves Printable Student Book Pages.
For setting up individual Student Logins, schools are only required to enter a class identifier and student name to set up a student with access. We permit schools and parents to use pseudonyms to allow students to access and interact with our resources anonymously, and we do not require schools to disclose the identities of students.
English Stars, Think Mentals Digital and BitMaths have the facility for students to submit their own activities. Their answers and their teacher’s marking are not publicly available. Students’ answers are visible only to the teachers and administrators linked to their class for tracking and reporting purposes, to the individual student themselves during the year of their subscription, and to Firefly Education. Firefly Education may use student answers anonymously to improve the content or functionality of the program or to report on statistical trends. Data is held at a secure Australian data centre in Sydney.
There is no facility for students to communicate with each other within the program, nor is there any facility for Firefly Education to communicate directly to students.
